Since 2005, the non-profit organization Brussels Art Square (BAS) has been organizing a cultural event bringing together the art galleries of Sablon, in Brussels. In September, for 4 days, the participating galleries open their doors, allowing a prestigious clientele to discover exceptional works of art. The exhibits cover 4000 years of international art history. Visitors can, thus, each year, appreciate a wide variety of works: ranging from paintings, sculptures, furniture and jewelry to Archeology and Contemporary Art.

A non-exhaustive list of the styles of works presented by the participating galleries includes: Ancient Egypt, Ancient Greece, 18th Century Furniture, Tribal Art, Symbolism, Art Nouveau and Art Deco, Murano Glass, 19th Century Sculptures, Japanese Art, Art Chinese, paintings of the Flemish Primitives, Contemporary Art, Ancient and Contemporary Jewelry.

This event has always taken place on the Sablon, the district which has the highest concentration of art dealers in Belgium. An essential and emblematic district, the Sablon is considered an epicenter of the art market in Europe. BAS is proud to be part of this reputation and to count among its members art galleries exhibiting in renown international art fairs, such as TEFAF, BRAFA, FIAC, FRIEZE New York or even The Armory Show.

The Brafa Art Fair, created in 1956, is one of the world’s oldest and most prestigious art fairs, famous for the high quality fine art, antiques, modern and contemporary art and design it offers.
